How to find your Steam trade URL

The one thing every trade needs, and it takes about twenty seconds to find.

Steam Levels Up Guide Updated September 2026

Your Steam trade URL is the address that lets someone send you a trade offer without being on your friends list. It is the one thing we always need from you, and it takes about twenty seconds to find.

Where to find it

  1. Open your Steam inventory In the Steam client or on the website, go to your profile and click Inventory.
  2. Open Trade Offers On the right of the inventory page, click Trade Offers.
  3. Open the privacy settings Click Who can send me Trade Offers?
  4. Copy the Trade URL Scroll to Third-Party Sites. Your trade URL is in the box there. Copy the whole line.

It looks like https://steamcommunity.com/tradeoffer/new/?partner=0000000&token=XxXxXxXx. Both the partner and the token parts matter, so copy it rather than retyping it.

Paste it into the trade link field on the order form and we will send the offer there.

Is it safe to share?

Yes. A trade URL only lets somebody send you an offer. It cannot take items, it cannot log in, and it is not a password. You still see every offer and you still have to accept and confirm it yourself.

What it does not do is replace checking the trade. Always read the offer window before you confirm, whoever it came from.

Resetting it

On the same settings page there is a Create New URL button. Using it kills the old URL immediately, which is useful if you have posted yours publicly and are getting spam offers. Anyone holding the old link, us included, will then need the new one.

Common problems

  • The offer never arrives. Usually a URL copied from a different Steam account, or one that was reset after you sent it. Grab it again and resend.
  • Only part of the link was copied. If the &token= part is missing it will not work.
  • Your account cannot trade yet. Steam blocks trading on limited accounts until they meet its requirements. Steam Support is the authority on your account's status.
  • Trades arrive but get held. That is escrow, not the URL. See our guide on trade holds.
